I love Valentines day and the excuse to show my favourite person how much I love them.
The thing I definitely don’t love about valentines day is the amount of non-recyclable waste that’s generated through glittery cards, plastic balloons and chocolate boxes to just name a few! Another bug bear of mine is the sheer amount of flowers that are flown in for the day when there are so many other options available to us!
I am a huge fan of making your own gifts and cards to give to your special person on valentines day. So if you’re feeling crafty, this is a great way to reduce your impact and up-cycle some of what you already have at home.
I’ll be sharing a few ideas for you to try over on my Instagram account over the next few days. If that’s your thing then keep your eyes peeled!
Some more ways of showing your love without buying something new are baking them something delicious, planning a movie night or having a pamper & massage evening together!
I know that not everyone is able to make their own gifts, so here’s my little list of sustainable valentines day gifts to help make your day that little bit more eco!

Sustainable Chocolate Gift Box
Tony’s Chocoloney are a chocolate company that are on a mission to end slavery in the chocolate industry (yes, that is very much still a widespread problem). They make incredibly tasty, chunky chocolate in all sorts of gorgeous favlours.

Your best bet is to get in touch with your local florist & ask for UK grown, seasonal flowers to avoid the environmental impact of stems flown in from overseas. My favourite florist is definitely Bramble & Wild in Frome. They are a family run, sustainable florist who deliver around Frome, Radstock, Trowbridge, Warminster & Westbury!
If you’re not local to Frome then Bloom & Wild have some great seasonal options for Valentines day delivered round the UK.
